BILLIE MIND
FILM EDITOR
SUPERVISING SOUND EDITOR
SOUND DESIGNER
I’m a film editor, sound designer and supervising sound editor, working across fiction and documentary. My practice focuses on compositional sound design and the narrative potential of rhythm and editing.
With a background in artistic editing from Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, I approach editing as a space of dialogue — between image and sound, story and structure, intuition and intention. I’m drawn to films that open up rather than close down.
As supervising sound editor and sound designer, I pay close attention to how tone, texture, and sonic timing shape emotion and meaning — often in collaboration from the early stages of the edit.
Recent work includes Sound of Falling (Cannes Competition 2025, Jury Prize) and We might as well be dead (Berlinale, Oscar shortlist).
I'm a member of the European Film Academy, and my credits span over a dozen feature films that have screened and won awards at international festivals including Berlinale, Cannes, TIFF, DOK Leipzig, and Tribeca.
I work project-based and collaboratively — with an openness to process and a curiosity for what lies beneath the surface of the material.

A QUIET RESISTANCE /
IM STILLEN LAUT
2019 / cinema documentary, 73:00 / D: Therese Koppe / Edition Salzgeber
postion: Original Sound
“The main question is: Why do I want to be free? What needs to be different?” Erika and Christine are a couple for more than 40 years. Today, at the age of 81, they look back on living through a turbulent time in history. A QUIET RESISTANCE is a film about love and aging, autonomy, art and collectivity in freely created art spaces within the GDR. The film does not hang onto questions of the past, but rather looks with Erika and Christine into the future: What role can art play in politically demanding times? How can oneself stay true to themselves, their art and their ideals? What meaning can art create, for the whole and each individual?

FAMILY LOVE /
NESTWÄRME
2022 / documentary, 95:00 / D: Eric Esser /
position: Original Sound
An inherited family treasure trove of photos and film footage show the director's grandfather in southern Germany in the 1940s. In one clip, the grandfather is briefly seen at a funfair wearing a swastika on his jacket. How is our perception of a loved one changed through a symbol that stands for murder by the millions? How can photos and film footage, memories and archival material, be pieced together to form a coherent picture? A struggle for memory - and a search whose persistence ultimately ruffles some feathers in the family.
